VLC - how to avoid opening multiple times?

    I am using VLC 1.0.6 on 10.04.

I load a track from the File Manager by right clicking and selecting VLC.

However when I load a second or third track another instance of VLC loads.

Is there a way for the second track to load in the first VLC?

I have checked the VLC preferences but could not find anything.

I just want one VLC session open rather than having to close the old one each time I open a new track.

    Thanks.

I'm not in front of my computer atm, but there should be a checkbox in VLC's setting that says something like "allow only one instance of VLC", check that and you should be good to go.

It's found in menus Tools, Preferences, Interface Settings, Instances, check box next to Allow only one instance.
