Why are there some many new Forum Staff without Ubuntu Forums Membership when it clearly states that a prerequisite?

Good work as a staff member - future staff will be required to acquire Ubuntu Membership prior to becoming forums staff, but current staff who are not yet Ubuntu Members will have their hard work and dedication rewarded

Any of the staff who are not ubuntu members are people we felt could easily be approved if they applied. When they were asked if they wanted to join the staff team, I believe they were also told that they would need to put in applications for membership ASAP.

Meaning we don't have to follow what we posted on the wiki, we are going to do things based on what we feel.

Please keep in mind that the requirement of staff being Ubuntu members is a new one, and it's all too easy to fall into old ways of doing things.

I'm not saying that's an excuse, but nobody is perfect. Obviously we didn't follow the structure this time, but we can use this to reflect and look at better ways of dealing with it in future.

So the Wiki got updated before the staff got confirmed... unfortunately, it's a little late to define how far in the "future" the membership requirement be in effect. With the current swell (via forums) in membership ranks, "future staff" (2012 and beyond) will undoubtedly be selected from members.

It's cool Joeb454. I was PM'ed from a council member asking me to apply for Forum Memership and got denied over a zero point infraction. No one bent the rules for me.

So as long as higher powers are aware it's there it's all good and resolved. Thanks.

I guess it's because the infraction was in the last 6 months.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention though, I'm sure we'll finally get it all sorted soon enough
