    Notification Area Gone?

I logged onto my laptop to notice that my notification area had gone. I have my "notification area" that is in the gnome "Add to panel..." menu, but most noticeably I don't have the sound button(controls sound and can start and stop banshee music).

What did I do and how do I get it back?

i guess u can add the sound control from app to panel option.

check if volume control is enabled/disabled in startup application (System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications) may be disabled. enable that n restart

You probably want Indicator Applet Complete.
