    Changing Desktop.

If I go to Settings-Session & Startup-Advanced, I have what appears to be a way to choose KDE or Gnome desktop. My question is, if I choose KDE, would that change anything that would cause me to lose programs or data? And, if I experiment with one of these and decide to put it back to the original desktop ( xfce ) can I do that easily? I'm at the point where I want to try some other things.

Many people start with one desktop environment and gravitate to another. It is not unusual. Here is a web site that you should read.

I have played with Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, and Xubuntu. You can also.

All the data is stored in your home folder. You won't lose anything even if you uninstall the desktop environments you don't use.

Sure you can, I myself use both Gnome(2) and Xfce in 10.10 Maverick. Upon login there is an option to choose between which you want to use, I use them both regularly, and it doesn't change or break anything.
It felt like judgment, but it was only rain.
