Re: HowTo: Windows (XP) on Ubuntu with VMWare Server

Just a question for anyone who can answer... WinXP through vmware doesn't seem to recognise any CD-Rs or CD-RWs I put in the drive. It still thinks there's a different CD in there... Any one got any suggestions?

EDIT: My bad. I powered the vm-window off and on again, and now it seems to be okay... Should have done that first!

A quick question b4 I decide to install or not: does this allow you to access files Ubuntu files with software the XP install? Could you browse with IE files on the Ubuntu system, and can you save from the XP install to ubuntu?

    gracias

    Hi,

VMWare server was working fine up until recently. Now I run vmware and the window loads but stalls, I force quit the window, then vmware runs fine. I'm guessing a recent upgrade somewhere has caused this...? How do I solve?

    Thanks.

Thanks for the easy to follow guide. I have a problem, however. As I'm going through the vmware installalation/creation of directories I get a message saying

"Unable to get the access rights of source file "./vmware-vix/bin".

    and the operation aborts.

I'm pathetically new, so please forgive me if the answer is obvious.

    Cheers

Is it possible for me to use an already existing windows xp-install with vmware server? Right now I'm dual-booting and don't really want to re-install xp.
