I have serial number, but it's kind of a beta serial? I have license time one month! What I have done wrong?

If you have the beta version then it will expire, mine did. Just download the 1.0 release version of VMWare Server, then get a new serial number and set it back up.

I am running Ubuntu 6.06 on a dual xeon 2.4 system with 1 GB of RAM and I run WindowsXP in vm and it's as fast as any XP machine I've ever run.

I LOVE my Ubuntu and VMWare combo!

Should I use "Custom: Specific virtual network" and set the device to it's path in linux? if so then how do I find out what that is? My ethernet connection is onboard and works perfectly in Ubuntu. I am running the 64-bit version.
I was having a similiar problem, then I used a container from easyvmx.com and used their default ethernet choice. Give it a shot.

Re: HowTo: Windows (XP) on Ubuntu with VMWare Server

I am using Drake x64 and Vmware Server. Everything was working fine until the update of a couple of days ago. Using 2.6.15-26-amd64-generic I now have problems whenever I restart my computer.

Trying to run Vmware Server I get:

vmware is installed, but it has not been (correctly) configured
for this system. To (re-)configure it, invoke the following command:
    /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl.

    Runninig the command I get:

    mhoward@ubuntu:~$ sudo /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl
    Password:
Making sure services for VMware Server are stopped.

    Stopping VMware services:
    Virtual machine monitor done
    Bridged networking on /dev/vmnet0 done
    DHCP server on /dev/vmnet1 done
    Host-only networking on /dev/vmnet1 done
    DHCP server on /dev/vmnet8 done
    NAT service on /dev/vmnet8 done
    Host-only networking on /dev/vmnet8 done
    Virtual ethernet failed
Unable to stop services for VMware Server

    Execution aborted.

Once the services are manually stopped I run vmware-config.pl and it configs perfectly:

The configuration of VMware Server 1.0.0 build-28343 for Linux for this running
    kernel completed successfully.

Vmware Server runs fine as long as I do not reboot. If I do reboot\restart I need to go through the entire config setup again!

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I had to do, at someone's suggestion, kill esd (i think it was) in terminal to get it to work. I've sincer rebooted and it continues to work for me.
