    MIDI file quality

    I've recently tried to play some midi files back, and most of them some of the instruments wouldn't sound right or wouldn't be of presence at all... It just doesn't really sound orthodox compared to what I was used to... Help?

    I would recommend importing the midi file into a sequencer to see exactly what is going on. It could be that the file wasn't exported properly, or maybe you just aren't happy with your sound font. And as long as you have it in the sequencer, you can assign instruments and everything to your liking.

    Also something else came up when I opened up Qtractor

    p, li { white-space: pre-wrap; }
    Code:
    11:51:41.745 Session closed.
     11:51:41.797 New session: "Untitled1".
     11:51:46.823 The audio/MIDI engine could not be started. Make sure the JACK audio server (jackd) and/or the ALSA Sequencer kernel module (snd-seq-midi) are up and running and then restart the session.

    Hmm your problem seems a little more complicated than I thought. Are you having issues with your sound in general? qtractor normally starts jack on it's own if you haven't started it already.
