Syncing Apps for an iPhone

Is it possible to sync apps to an iphone through some linux-based program. I understand I can sync music through amarok, which is great, but I didn't read anything about apps.

I have installed itunes 10.x through Wine, but it doesn't recognize when my phone is plugged in. So, are there any other programs/work-arounds?

Will you still need to do this once iOS 5 is released and support for cloud syncing and no more wires is setup ? I'd be inclined to wait as it should be next month or so.
