    Re: LTS version

probably 10.04, since the 2.6.32 kernel is being supported long term.

i could be wrong, but why you need an lubuntu lts instead of the latest?

also why not ask them directly?

    Re: LTS version

The same as for Ubuntu: 10.04. LTS means long term support. And with 'support' they mean updated repos. If the support ends, the repos are taken offline (in fact moved to a backup server and they aren't updated anymore). Since all *buntus use the same repos, they also have the same support period.

just because I do not want to be bound to reinstall a new version more often than necessary

    Define "best".

There is no answer for that question. Lubuntu is good for older computers, and 10.04 may be more stable, but 11.04 has newer software. So which one is best? If 11.04 works good for you, than I would say 11.04.

    Re: LTS version

I try the latest lubuntu version, lubuntu of the past were a bit buggy.
I'm running lubuntu 11.04 & haven't had any issues I use to have with older versions.

You have to give details on your pc if you want recommendations.

I think Lubuntu does not have an 'LTS' as such, so that the 10.04 version will presumably get security updates for only the normal time period - (18 months)

    http://lubuntu.net/blog/lubuntu-1004...lable-download
'....Please note also that Lubuntu 10.04 is not a LTS version. For the future we aim to include all packages of lubuntu in the Ubuntu repository....'

You do not have to keep changing to the latest 6 month release version though. 18 months from 10.04 is 11.10 so when Lubuntu 11.10 arrives, then is the time to change from 10.04

You may be aware that with a little care it is possible to install 'over' an existing (L)Ubuntu in theory leaving your own files untouched. However a good backup of data, first, is strongly advised anyway.
