Also, talking about things that work.
Hardware that works out-of-the-box:
- Microphone jack
- Headphone jack
- VGA port (as I mentioned in my previous post)
- USB 2.0 ports
- Ethernet port
- Memory card reader (tested only with SD-card)
- Wireless connection
- Built-in microphone
- Built-in speakers
not tested (yet):
- USB 3.0 port

Has anybody come up with a fix for the fn-keys yet? Many of them seem to work but I cant get the volume ones to do!
Also, am I supposed to install the nvidia restricted drivers and then bumblee, or just bumblee straight away?
I'm planning to buy this model of ASUS, because of its special advantages.
I'm a web designer and i use ubuntu primarily.
please tell me about problems, are problems Annoying the user?
are you hoping for fixing problems in the new version of ubuntu?
- That the fn-key for disabling the touchpad does not work
- And that the media fn-keys does not work.
- Also that the web camera is upside down
for more details, see my previous posts: here for example. I also recommend you to read through the whole thread.
then add this ppa: Stable Bumblebee releases
Code:sudo apt-add-repository ppa:bumblebee/stableCode:sudo apt-get updatethen, restart.Code:sudo apt-get install bumblebee
to switch between the internal gpu and the nvidia gpu:
Code:sudo apt-get install gitI do not know if the following steps are really neccesary actually, but just to be shure:Code:git clone email@example.com:mkottman/acpi_call.git cd acpi_call make sudo insmod acpi_call.ko
then first make a script executable:
Now run this script:Code:chmod +x ./test_off.sh
to turn off the discrete graphics card:
to turn it back on:Code:echo '\_SB.PCI0.PEG0.GFX0.DOFF' > /proc/acpi/call
I got this information from the following place: a linux-hybrid-graphics.blogspot.com postCode:echo '\_SB.PCI0.PEG0.GFX0.DON' > /proc/acpi/call

This should fix the fn-key issues
Though I have a diff. hardware (Asus U41S), the post has helped to get the ALL the fn-keys working even right up to 'xev'Code:git clone git://git.iksaif.net/acpi4asus-dkms.git cd acpi4asus-dkms make sudo make install sudo modprobe asus-nb-wmi
Follow Olf_'s instruction about Bumblebee.
