    Syncing contacts with Android

I am looking for a solution which will allow me to sync contacts between my two laptops with Ubuntu and my Android phone. Right now all my contacts are saved in Evolution, but I may switch if necessary. So far I have found the following solutions:

    * Export the Evolution contacts to vCard and import in Android. Unfortunately, this is a one-time solution and moreover some fields are lost. In particular all pictures are lost, and since I have lots of pictures of people I carefully selected, this is far from optimal.
    * Sync Evolution with my Google account and the latter with Android. This is the suggested route, but it implies having all my contacts on an external server. Moreover, my Google account has automatically saved hundreds of irrelevant emails ove the years, and I do not want those to appear.

Other ideas? Please, keep in mind that I would be willing to switch from Evolution to another PIM, provided it syncs easily and lets me improt the contacts I have right now in Evolution without too much pain.
Please, feel free to correct my english, so that I can improve it.
