    no, without the numbers. just

    Code:
    apport-bug
That should guide you to launchpad.

Re: libreoffice runs only with sudo

What happens if you run the libreoffice binary directly like this:
    Code:
    /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/oosplash.bin
It will be a little crippled if it does open, but if it does,
it will help narrow down where the problem is.

Re: libreoffice runs only with sudo

One more thing to look at.
openoffice/libreoffice is written mostly in C++ but there are some Java components.

I think com::sun::star::uno::RuntimeException is a Java runtime error.
My runtime environment is IcedTea that comes with Ubuntu,
you might check & see if that's what you have.
    Code:
    19:47:23 ~ java -version
    java version "1.6.0_22"
    OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.10.2) (6b22-1.10.2-0ubuntu1~11.04.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b11, mixed mode)

so, now I reinstalld my Ubuntu and did the following:

    Code:
    florian@inspiron:~$ libreoffice

Re: libreoffice runs only with sudo

I burned the latest Ubuntu CD, Ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.iso,
    and booted to it.
Sure enough no Java was installed.
But, libreoffice was installed and it worked fine.
It must contain enough runtime Java to get by ?????

Have you tried running labreoffice from a live CD?
If that works, I can't imagine why it wouldn't work with a fresh install of Ubuntu.

If that doesn't work, it may be something in your bios ???

If you ever get this solved let us know what you found.

Re: libreoffice runs only with sudo

    I have a suspicion.

When I reinstalled my Ubuntu, I always chose "erase Ubuntu 11.04 and reinstall".
Maybe it's better to format the partition Ubuntu is on and to install it new.
Maybe if I choose the option reinstall, not everything will really be new installed (maybe some parts of the file system will not be erased).
Could that be, or am I wrong?

I don't know, but you might be on to something.
It might not be erasing your home directory or some
    other config files.

If you have stuff stored in your home directory you should
back that up first, but don't re-use the config directories that
start with a "." , the ones you have to us "ls -a" to see.

Does it work when you boot to a liveCD??
