I'd like to be able to record a video with my webcam...

So far cheese fails me with any video's longer than 10 seconds or so....
No luck either with kamoso. It gives me no sound. It also looks suspiciously like cheese..
Camstream simply chokes right away. Starts up half and freezes...

VLC seems to do something. I choose file -> convert/save -> capture device
I use /dev/video0 for the video and wh:1,0 for sound and choose a destination for the file and record....
Yay it's a vid! Wait a sec....the sound is allright. Kinda happy with the sound but....the video is all sped up? WTF?

I use Ubuntu 10.04 and I would love to be able to record a video witth my logitech webcam.
Plz tell me I don't need to use a Mac or a *gulp* *******.....

What webcam do you have, exact model please.

I forgot the type and it doesn't say it anywhere on the camera.
Where can I see how ubuntu recognizes it?

Wow, guvcview looks really neat. Managed to record 1 vid with it...alas it had no sound. After that it just freezes everytime I touch the record "video button"

Oh and found what cam I have. It's a Logitech C510 HD Webcam.
Ring any bells with any one?

Oh great I just changed the mic in gvcview to the USB one and it doesn't freeze anymore
