grub rescue, error: no such device:

I recently installed ubuntu 11.04 on my desktop. I moved 1000 miles away, and my computer was a car for 26 hours, and this afternoon I added more RAM. That was all before booting today. When turning on my computer, after the bios screen, this message shows up

error: no such device : 9942b174-aae8-480c-a2c3-ba2e9a58fe21
    grub rescue>

I have no idea what to do to fix it, and I spent an hour or so looking around on the forums. I really just need to be able to get to my Windows partition, but I cannot figure out how to do that.

Sorry if this is formatted incorrectly, I'm very new to this forum =]

I am having this same problem and I just started a new thread about a very similar issue. Mine stops at the same place with that message. Although he number is a little different.. It's just the drive it's looking for though... Right? One difference is I have installed 11.10.

Will this fix work for this version?

    Thanks
