Ubuntu and ASUS Laptop keyboard options
My second posting with an issue with my ASUS N53SN laptop. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04. Again, to summarize, I'm new to Linux/Ubuntu. I had Win 7 64 bit on this laptop which I bought new back in May. I am from the US, and have deployed to Iraq. I left my Win 7 disks that I made back home accidently. My HDD has started failing, and I was able to format and load Ubuntu onto the HDD.
When setting up the keyboard option, it was initially set for a default setting. I noticed that the function keys are not working, nor are the volume keys. Example; f9 can usually disable the touchpad. Doesnt work now.
I did see that there were options under Keyboards, and one of the options was an ASUS notebook keyboard. I since selected that, but there's no change. Anyone have similar experiences and suggestions to correct?

Re: Ubuntu and ASUS Laptop keyboard options
Jupiter may help with some keys. But not all. If interested:

If it works for you consider adding the ppa for updates. Good luck.
PS: you should not need the jupiter-eee-controls, but they may help. If not, simply remove them. Hope it helps you.

Re: Ubuntu and ASUS Laptop keyboard options
Downloaded Jupiter successfully. While not fixing the keyboard issue itself, it did enable me to shut down the touchpad
Worked like a charm!
Now if I can just get the USB 3.0 figured out, and the nVidia card issue, I might call it good !
