    screen resolution OUT OF RANGE

i just installed ubuntu 11.4 on a custom built computer
the video card is ASUS HD 6670
when i installed the driver ubuntu provided, i rebooted
upon startup the screen would turn purple, then boot into unity
the screen resolution is too high for my monitor to handle, so it gives the message
    out of range
how can i change the resolution down to something the monitor can manage?

Sorry, misread your message. No clue, I'm afraid.

Re: screen resolution OUT OF RANGE

I had this when I tried to install Ubuntu Server 11.04 on my old server at work. After HOURS of fighting I found a simple and elegant solution. I burnt a copy of Server 10.10 and installed that. Now I have a great server that is reliable, easy to use and works!

I would suggest you do the same (but with Desktop) and stay away from 11.04 and Unity like the pope stays away from spandex.
