Another what distro queston Asus EEE 900

    Hello there..
Im running Lucid linux on a few stationary computers, and it works flawlessly.
(i havent had the need to ajust anythin, other than dual screen setup, but it went ok)

I also have a Asus EEE 900 laptop, and have tried a few dedicated distros. xubuntu, but its outdated, and no 3 party preinstalled, so i cant listen to streaming, and watch utube.

Anyone have any ideas of what distros i should try next?
Id prefer a distro, with support for streaming, and java included.
I moustly look at news online, and streaming.
it should be possible to get a distro with all inc?

    in advance, ty for advice.

Xubuntu is not outdated and you can put everything on Xubuntu that you have on plain Ubuntu via the software center (or maybe that's called otherwise in Xubuntu).

But for the things you want, you could try Linux Mint XFCE or Linux Mint LXDE. XFCE has more functionality and LXDE is light and fast.

I have recently changed from Xubuntu to Lubuntu.
I downloaded Ubuntu software center via synaptic and now have a distro that does everything Xubuntu did, but a lot faster.
So far no bugs, lock up's etc.
Have had no graphic or streaming problems. (I use Firefox with the Flash Aid plugin).
So I think it's worth a serious look.
Acer Aspire SA60, Intel Celeron 2.8ghz, 2gig ram, 1x80gig & 1x100gig hard drives, Nvidia FX5900 turbo graphics card with 256mb ram (clock 410mhz - mem 800mhz), 22" lcd monitor @ 1680x1050res. Running dual boot Win XP and Xubuntu 11.04 with Unity 2D.

Sorry, Mint XFCE is based on Debian, so it could be more difficult to have proprietary things on it. I've never installed a Debain based Mint edition though, so I can't tell for sure.

The advantage is that the Debain based editions are rolling. That means that you don't need to upgrade it EVER (in theory).

No worries friend I use LMDE the mint debian edition it works with out any issue but for you I recommend Lubuntu or PeppermintOS which is also based on LXDE and very light.

    Give it a try.

You might have a look at PingEEE OS. It's Pinguy OS specifically made for the eeepc.
