I think you're over-reacting just a wee bit. Let's try to stay on topic.

Maybe you are right. But when I see a company such as apple tries to monopolize the market exactly like Microsoft " Obtain exclusive possession or control of most (trade, commodity, or service ", it reminds me of fascist ideology automatically and makes me feel sick. By reacting to the way they do business I think I react morally right. Yes ... sometimes it is irrelevant to this topic and we should stay on topic as much as we can.

    No you don't.

The MBA 2011 is the best hardware on the market, be it feat- or price-wise, period. Apple makes wise choices in hardware (EFI, openfirmware, Thunderbolt), it's a shame Linux support is still whacky.

It takes sometime to get the Linux-laptop stack ported on it, no surprise, it's the case with all new hardware be it Apple or not. In the mean time you're up to use Mac OS, which isn't a bad OS at all with loads of excellent FOS software on it if you don't want to use Apple's ones (which is understandable).

You're yelling in a way which is just wrong, man. If you're so upset about that, come on... just resell it but give us a break.

I must say, it looks solid and nice ! Maybe, we should all just sell our MacbookAirs and get one of those ...

What do you think ? Lets do it !
I've been tracking the UX21 for some time. Last I check it isn't yet available but should be in the coming weeks.

In any event, there is no guarantee the story will be any better. Although I don't have specific evidence, I think its the Intel video card that is the problem not something due to Apple. I say this because other mobile i5/i7 chipsets with integrated graphics are also having a host of problems. Of course who knows.

It certainly will be interesting to see if the UX21 runs w/o problems though.

The ASUS UX21 / UX31 are the first laptops from a PC manufacturer that actually come close to the Macbook Air. One thing I like about the UX31 is the 1600x900 resolution display:

For me, anything below 1440x900 is a major drag on productivity and usability.

However, the UX series still don't match the build quality and aesthetic appeal of the Macbook Air imo. When you look at the profile of the UX21 with lid closed, it is nowhere near as clean as the Macbook Air.

Apple really hit the nail on the head with the new Macbook Air. The only minor complaint I have is the glossy screen. If Apple provided a matte option, this would be a perfect laptop.

I'm just patiently waiting for support with the Intel graphics driver and expect it will come before Oneiric is released. I'm sure it will be much better than the other Apple laptops I own with Nvidia graphics cards. It took a while for the Macbook 5,1 to have all the kinks ironed out. Never again will I buy a laptop with Nvidia graphics card.

I am very happy with my ThinkPad T420s for a long list of reasons. That's my primary laptop. I actually have Fedora with KDE installed on it and it is running beautifully. I'd imagine Ubuntu would run just as well. Of course, it is nowhere near as sleek and beautiful as the Macbook Air, but there are also a lot of advantages, i.e. dual hard drive setup with MSATA SSD, 1600x900 resolution etc.
