    I'm not in 11.04 at the moment so i can't test this for you and i don't know if it will work.
    That is my caveat out of the way

    Try logging out and back in again to see the changes.

    You can remove it from settings folder I hope

    from your home folder give file view preference as show hidden files

    then you should be able to see .kde or gnome

    i don't know exactly but you will get it after small search i hope and make a link of that file to desktop so next time you need not search for it
