    [SOLVED] 11.04 Soundmax HD card (alsa=intel again)

    Hiya all,

    Scard works fine in winblows. Clean install of 11.04 and alsa is recognising it as an intel, which I can see was an issue with ubuntu 10.

    My machine is an hp IQ500UK (soundcard listed in 3rd expand + at bottom of page)

    I have tried the fix for ubuntu 10 i.e. enter the additional string of "options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 model=3stack" into /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf in the options section. No joy

    With the threads regarding the problems with the previous version of ubuntu, i'm hoping someone has seen the issue on 11.04 and just got it working as i cant see any threads for 11.04.


    Id be really greatfull for some assistance to aid me sorting this.

    If you're going to post blocks of text like that, please use code tags. That model does not even apply to your codec. As you stated it did not work, so you need to remove it. Once done add this line instead:

    yeh when I dumped the results in here, I wanted it in a frame but couldnt and still cant see which icon to use, Opera's hover over isnt showing text, so sorry bout that wall of text. guessing its the hash symbol? as it comes up with code.. so thanks for that tip.

    How do I remove it and what am I removing? more than happy to try the code, im assuming that will till the system that it doesnt have an intel in my hardware and thats its a Soundmax HD?

    Add the one mentioned previously. Time zone here is GMT+5 or US EDT. This time of year I work long hours many days.

    When you see (snd-hda-)intel referenced within alsa it refers to the the specification set forth by intel for HD Audio, not to intel hardware specifically.It is the replacement for AC '97 and alsa loads the snd-hda-intel module to interface with it. Any number of hardware/manufacturers utilize it.
