    Who manufacturers Pangolin notebook?

I'm in the UK. I'm deciding between getting a System76 Pangolin, or getting another notebook here and doing the ubuntu installation myself. For the Pangolin: Ubuntu pre-installed, looks cool. Against: US keyboard, shipping and import costs.

The images of the Pangolin on the System76 website look very nice, much nicer than many other notebooks. I'm wondering if this is custom-made for System76 or if it's from a major manufacturer and I can get a similar looking model here in the UK?

First, I don't have the answer to your question.

But I found a review of the System 76 Serval laptop computer. You will find it here:

The folks at Phoronix provide reviews of equipment that support Linux. They have some interesting things to say about the new Intel Sandybridge processors. I had been looking at spinning a desktop myself but I think I'll look at a ready built one this time. I have done several over the past few years.

Good luck, with your hunt for a new laptop.

By the way I am using a Starling from System 76 and really enjoy it.

We build all of our own systems; none of our hardware is rebranded from another manufacturer.

I recently purchased a new Pangolin and am very satisfied with it. It's solidly built, the screen is very good. And system performance is very fast and more than adequate for my needs. (I do not run CPU or VPU intensive apps, so your results may vary.)

    The Sager NP3250 http://www.powernotebooks.com/Sager-...-sys-4049.html
looks to be similar except it has NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M and Hybrid Optimus Switchable Graphics. Optimus is not really supported in Linux yet.
