Should we have a 'like' button in Forums?

Does any of you think we should have a 'like' button against each thread / reply?

(My first day into Ubuntu and Ubuntu Forums is AMAZING!!!

Been going through various number of threads and each one more interesting than the other!

I have been wondering, if I have been wasting away my time on FB all this while getting involved in useless discussions while the 'real' Social Networking is here!!! (i know it's debatable ) )

I beleive there used to be, or at least something along those lines.

IIRC it was removed because it caused additional database load for very little benefits.

While I think I agree, can I ask you what happens if it is a recurring thread and how does one mark it as recurring thread? And what happens to a recurring thread? No one can see it again, perhaps?
( You'd prolly mark this also a recurring discussion and show me a link! But I'd appreciate that too )

What often happens is that a staff member moves the thread to Recurring Discussions

While I don't agree that its a horrible idea, I'm certainly not surprised about your latter half of the statement!

I think a poll on this might help. (whether you feel a like button is necessary)

Its not necessary, but it would be nice. If it won't jumble up the code of the forum too much.
