Cheese webcam booth issues

I tried using Cheese to record some webcam video, but the result was really poor. I can use it to take photos well enough, but the video just doesn't work at all. There's a lag of about 5-10 seconds between frames. Is there any way to fix this?

Btw, I'm using 10.04

We will need to know what video card/processor/camera you are using.

Have you checked with the Cheese web site for advice?
