The fix you posted works for the eth0, fantastic. Then I just installed the b43 drivers and that took care of the wireless. I thought since I could see the device in iwconfig that the drivers were installed already. Guess not.

What about the touchpad? Is there a driver for it? I try to run synclient and I get "Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?"

You are probably using ADB mouse as this explains https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Sy...een%20detected
. It is working though isn't it?

I'm a little confused myself about the synaptics driver as I've seen some guides for the iBook that tell you to use it. My model comes up with the ADB mouse though. There is meant to be a patch somewhere that lets you use synaptics on an ADB mouse, but I can't find it. So no two finger scrolling for me....

The mouse does work, but I was hoping to get some increased functionality.

I did find the "trackpad tap" command to be useful, but would like to emulate left and middle clicks by tapping two or three fingers, and enable two finger scrolling too.

You can change what keys on the keyboard are right and middle click. That is all I know.

How is lubuntu comparing to mintppc as I see you recently installed that too!?! I'm actually really liking xubuntu at the moment so could give that a go as well!

I tried the mint ppc for a week or so but I got frustrated with the Debian base and reositories pretty quickly, as I am a longtime Ubuntu user. Lots of support out of the box for things like wireless and such. I tried xubuntu for a bit too, but I'm digging LXDE a lot right now.

I just found a package that supposedly enables multitouch. I'll let you know if it works and where to find it.

I see now why you were confused with the wireless, as mintppc does indeed download the driver for you. I tried it for a bit, but debian drives me mad after a couple of minutes of using it and the font rendering is awful (sorry linuxopjemac)!

I like the shadows and transparency of xubuntu and the applications load nearly (if not just as) fast. I get the simplicity of lubuntu too though and it is really fast to boot.

Would be good to hear about the multitouch package. Thanks

Interesting to hear why you think Debian is inferior to Ubuntu. I always take the positive information out of criticism. I never personally felt that font rendering was so bad in Debian and therefore also in MintPPC. But knowing this, I am willing to experiment a little on this subject. I will have a look if I can make the font rendering better in MintPPC, just like it's done in Ubuntu. Thanks for your honest opinion.

I think a live CD installation would be in your favor too. I see on your website you are working on one.

Another interesting thing I found, running lubuntu the nouveau graphics driver works. I had issues with this driver in mintPPC if you remember, and wound up using the NV driver.

I am working on an iso based installer, yes, but not a liveCD installer, that's beyond my knowledge at this moment.

Interesting that nouveau works for you...Do you know why it works under Ubuntu as opposed to MintPPC ?

Would you be willing to test the new MintPPC version in the future and see whether nouveau will work ?

Could you paste the output of:
    Code:
    sudo cat /var/log/kern.log
    sudo cat /proc/fb
    sudo cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
