I have a 3 hard drive enclosures, 1 3.5" and 2 2.5". All are using PATA drives because I had the drives. All have been plug & play, no worries. I did use a live CD & a Western Digital external on an acquaintance's sick Windows PC. Again, it worked as advertised. The WD didn't use the installed (windows) backup software but that was expected. The WD drive itself seemed to work okay although it seemed slower than copying to a bare formatted drive in an enclosure.
