Splitting a physical monitor into multiple virtual monitors
Hi Everybody,
Today I installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my father's pc. Everything is working properly, except for some things I can probably fix. However, my father uses a Matrox Dualhead2Go Digital something to enable the use of 3 monitors on a 2-port graphics card.
Basically, the device takes the pc as input and acts as a single monitor with the combined resolution of the monitors connected to the device. This way the system recognizes the two monitors as one screen thus stretching the screen across the two monitors.
Now, I've been searching for this all night and all I could find is enabling dual-monitor stuff. My question:
Can I split the screen across the two monitors on software level?
I've tried this by modifying xorg.conf without any luck. I've restored my xorg.conf to the auto-generated version by my nvidia-driver.
If anybody knows a way to do this, I would greatly appreciate your help.
