A Carafe of Ubuntu
As an example, today it got to a splash, then shut-down. I tried to boot windows with the same result, so I tried a LiveCD, which took 2 attempts before it would boot & run.
After a few minutes, I successfully booted from the HD (into Ubuntu).
I'm also having trouble calling Synaptic & Gdebi from the icons, but they run successfully from the cli. I'm thinking about downloading a fresh copy of 10.04.2 & re-installing.
Your assistance is most welcome mate, as I have less idea about reading logs than you!
