optimising ubuntu for ASUS 1015 PEM

    Hi there!
I've successfully installed the latest version of Ubuntu (11.04) on my netbook ASUS 1015 PEM and it's already working great!
I was wondering whether I should install some specific packages in order to optimise the performance on the netpc hardware. For example, I noticed that this netbook uses the Super Hybrid Engine Technology to improve power management and I don't know if I'm using it or not! Moreover, the processor is an atom dual core which works with very low voltage. I would like to set up my system in the better way...

    Thank you in advance,
    bye!

I too am interested in this. I recently purchased an ASUS Eee 1015PE(M?) and I have seen a noticeable difference in battery life with Super Hybrid Engine usage in Windows 7. Is this controlable from Ubuntu 11.04?

Side-bar: How is 11.04 on your machine, fatoddsun?

Jupiter is the linux version of the super hybrid engine.

If your net book uses Nvidia ION graphics you might want to try this also. This will allow switching between the Nvidia and the Intel chip which will double battery life.

I can tell you a little about how it is on my ASUS 1015 PEM.
Installation was easy and smooth the battery time is around 6-7 hours so im pretty happy. Im going to install jupitar and see if that gives me any changes. EDIT: Installation went very smooth and it seems like a very sweet tool.
Problems that i have not solved yet is:
Wireless is only able to connect to networks with no encryption and i have been through various posts here and on other sites and im about to give up and make a post in the network section.
The touch pad does not allow for two finger scroll out of the box. Which is something i hope to fix afterwards.
if you have more questions feel free to ask
