    'Partial Upgrade'

    Morning chaps.
What exactly is a 'partial upgrade', and why is my machine telling me i should run one?
If it goes away and installs some software updates, then cool. However, I don't want to come back to my pc and find out it's "upgraded" from my 10.04 to some newer version.
Btw, it's only started prompting this about 2 weeks ago.

    Cheers,

    mute

partial upgrade is not a disrto upgrade just means some updates can't be installed for whatever reason

Be cautious with partial upgrades , they cause problems with synaptic until the rest of the upgrade becomes available .

    Re: 'Partial Upgrade'

In my experience doing apt-get dist-upgrade will get the full upgrade.

note dist-upgrade does NOT upgrade to a new release, it stays with your current one.

    Re: 'Partial Upgrade'

I'm having the same issue ... Update manager is asking for partial upgrade!
    It's not updating:
    linux-generic kernel packages
    sound-juicer
    wine

What can I do to solve the problem?

    Re: 'Partial Upgrade'

I've removed sound-juicer and wine and now it seems normal ... no more partial upgrade!
