Earlier today, I decided to make one of my laptops to run Ubuntu only since it was duel boot with Win 7 (Win 7 corrupted and I didn't need it anymore), so I put in my Ubuntu 10.04 disk and I wasn't able to connect to the Internet (wired and Wireless). I wasn't sure if it was an OS or Computer problem (Unsure still, but I'll let you know what I've tried so far).
After hours of looking through tutorials on how to fix this problem, I failed to come up with any solution, so I tried out Linux Mint, Puppy Linux, Ubuntu 11.04, and CentOS (I was very busy!) and every single distro wouldn't allow me to connect to the Internet except for Puppy Linux on the first time installation. After several minutes, it disconnected and I couldn't access the Internet anymore.
I need to install Broadcom STA Drivers, which appear accessible in Linux Mint (very similar to Ubuntu) but cannot activate them. I tried going to their website and downloading the tar.gz but had no luck... got a few errors. I downloaded the drivers using the computer I'm on now (my desktop) and transfered them via USB stick.
But if it helps, I'll post my info:
Anyone who knows how to fix this, please let me know. I've about tried everything, but maybe theres something I left out?
