i am not familiar with unity i will wait for it to get straitened out
i do know is is like a compiz effect odds are the cube has a conflict with it
open up ccsm and look for the item that was disabled (when you try to enable it it will fuss about the cube and ask to disable it)
here is a screenshot form ccsm on ubuntu 10.04

search for it in under applications using unity's search feature
if you still cant find it open the software center and search there

I'll try Gnome classic now and get back to you then. THanks for the replies by-the-way.
The quick way to get your Unity desktop working again is to execute "unity --reset" in a terminal.
You could either drop into TTY with Ctrl-Alt-F1 and run it from there, or use the Gnome Classic or Recovery session from the login screen to run the command.
After that's done you should be able to log back to Unity session and have the Unity panels working like they should.

it is not something you un-install it is a feature you turn off
