    Re: headphone jack not working

Not sure if you are still lending your assistance, but your help would be greatly appreciated! My problem is that the Sound works fine until headphones are plugged in, then speaker sound is muted, but no sound from headphones. All returns to normal when headphones are removed.

Gateway M-7356U Laptop, Mobile Intel GL40 Express Chipset,I ntel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) using Conexant CX20561 (Hermosa) Codec on Ubuntu 11.04, I am using the latest ALSA update.

    ALSA info at:

I have tried modifying the alsabase.conf via: gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
and have tried these following settings individually to no avail:
    options snd-hda-intel model=auto
    options snd-hda-intel model=laptop
    options snd-hda-intel model=hp-laptop
    options snd-hda-intel model=asus
    options snd-hda-intel model=dell-laptop

    Re: headphone jack not working

    Hey guys...
I've just updated from 10.04 to 11.10, and now my "line out" option in the mixer is gone
So headphones only work while internal speakers are playing aswell... Can I get it back in any way?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Re: headphone jack not working

    Hello all!

I have been looking for an appropriate place to post this question without luck, hope not to bug you with this but I have no choice.

I use a machine with Ubuntu 10.04 to record audio with Ardour, I can record and playback fine but there is a little problem I'm having with the line input: I have an external mixer where the mics and everything else is hooked up to then the main output of this mixer goes to the soundcard input, and of course the audio output of the soundcard comes back to one of the mixer channels so I can playback the audio from the PC.
The problem is that when I record from mics I need to mute the line in playthrough so I don't get feedback ... BUT the audio properties only shows a tab with "input" which I can mute unmute and adjust level. Actually I could leave the playthrough permanently off since I monitor all the inputs in the mixer board rather than in the PC speakers... any idea? thank you very much to all!

Since nobody seems to know about this issue, I ended up changing the SB live soundcard and leaving the built in soundcard of the PC's motherboard, it seems that the line playthrough is disabled in this one so I don't get that loud feedback I get with the SB card. It is very strange though that all OS's are deleting the line in control in playback and leaving just the line in for record mode control available, I hear the same complain from Vista users. If someone can suggest Ubuntu about this, please explain that line in playthrough and line in capture are two different things

    Try this using a Terminal="Applications->Accessories->Terminal"
    Code:
    echo "options snd-hda-intel model=thinkpad" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
    Reboot
