Backup or restore mbr - windows install

I would like to install windows xp just for the next week. Is it possible to either backup the mbr and restore or just to install another os which installs grub, then from ubuntu run update-grub, will this fix it. I'm gonna end up installing the other os anyways so if this works I'll do it that way.

Re: Backup or restore mbr - windows install

I've decided that I'm just going to reinstall so that I can mess around with the installer some more.
