Exclamation Help! Can't boot into Ubuntu at all

I have a Compaq Persario cq60 (AMD dual core QL-64 Processor) that I'm trying to load Ubuntu onto. With Wubi I get an error message and with the live CD I get a kernel panic message. I've searched the forum a few times, but can't find any reference to a similar problem.

check the CD for errors. it's also possible that the download you made has errors. you can check that by checking the md5sum: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM

also try to load OpenSUSE linux on it.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?

Please post the error messages. It will help isolate the problem.

In trying to recreate the problem I only get the purple screen for an hour and a half. Going to retry wubi from web instead of cd

What is your graphics card? You may need a boot option (like nomodeset) to get past the purple screen
