I installed the update and my wireless disappeared. I rebooted and the wireless still did not work. I tried an ethernet cable and I got an internet connection but no panel icon.
I re-installed all necessary packages and rebooted. The wireless icon was replaced by a box with a red "no access" type sign. I clicked on that and got a wireless connection back. The dodgy looking icon is still there

Similar problem with Kubuntu. The icon's hover text reads "Error: Invalid state" and I'm told I don't have an I.P. address. My wired internet connection is working perfectly though.
