    Sean,

Thanks. I'm using the vindsl-imperial-conkywx.conf script and the comments were a little confusing.

    Jon.

    Hi Jon,

Sorry I'm a little confused as to your "vindsl-imperial-conkywx.conf script" this sounds very much like the template being used to display your weather data.
Perhaps you could copy and paste the contents of this script in your next post so I can determine if it is indeed the template that is used.

    Cheers Sean

    Hi Cavsfan,

I think you could be right about the template, I have tried it first using Imperial settings but it looks like a mess and in the terminal its complaining about
"can't load graphtemp.png" so it looks like i will need your .conkyrc file as well as the template so i can determine what else is missing.

As to the weather here in Dresden it's -12°C and snowing! here's a screenie from conky.

    Cheers Sean

I know it looks old but it is up to date. I have a 1920x1200 monitor and this fills the screen up with Tommy's code for Adacious music player. Screen shot at the bottom.
Sorry about the cold weather! It had been cold here and manatees were trying hard to stay warm. It seems to be letting up a bit now. Looks like another cold front in a few days though.

If you need anything else that I have I'll be more than happy to post it here for you.
Here is my conky file .conkyrc.vindsl:

    Code:

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

    Hi Sean,

Yes it is the weather config script. It gets called explicitly from .conkyrc. Its the only place that fetch is defined. The comments say to make sure the duration is less than the fetch duration in the conky script, but there isn't anything defined in any of those scripts. I just want to make sure that changing this value isn't going to break something else.

    Code:

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

    Hi Jon,

    Thanks for the post.

The call up frequency in my .conkyrc looks like this with a value of 900:

    ${execpi 900 conkywx -c /etc/conkywx/conkywx.conf -t /usr/share/conkywx/examples/wx-wu-vindsl-template.sh}${font}

Yours should look similar but if you cant find it please post the contents of your .conkyrc.
If you do find it you could change the value to 7200 for a 2 hour call up
and set the minimum_fetch_time= to something like 7170.

    I hope I'm right!

    Many thanks Sean

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

    Yo Cavsfan Dude

I can see I'm missing quite a few things maybe it would be better to wait for a data dump from vin then I could get the latest metric stuff
    and get up to date.
I too have still got my old monitors a 22" and 19" the bad guy's didn't take these in the raid over Christmas! My conky runs on the 19", I had to rip out
certain things to make room for mrpeachy's sun moon plotter, I like the thermometer as well but its a bit big, it does have a scale option in the script so
I could make it smaller or even take it out all together but keep the compass even Paramvir likes that.

The temp here over the past 24 hours -12 during the day and last night -17 but its gone a bit milder just now its -7 and the sun is busting through my windows
Over the past 4 days I've had strange readings from conky jumping from metric to imperial and 3 times now I've had that little "!" to the left of the current condition
that's cool and also no wind speed it just sits at "calm" even though we do have a wind of 8-10 km/h with slight gusts. My guess is that WundG are still having some data problems.

Anyway thanks for posting your .conkyrc and the offer of help I will get back to you on that one, Very nice wallpaper image it sort of reminds me of a scene from one of the Matrix films.

    Cheers and gone Sean

    and get up to date.

That's odd about the switch from Imperial to Metric randomly. Everything seems to be working on my machine with the weather even the wind. That exclamation should mean some kind of warning that will display in the
CONKYWX--------------------------------------------- line if there is any alerts. That should come from the top 4 lines of Paramvir's code.

    Code:
    ##################################
    ## CONKYWX WEATHER ##
    ##################################
    ${voffset 4}${font DroidSans:bold:size=8.25}${color4}CONKYWX${if_existing ${template7}} \
    ${color2}Alert: ${if_match ${execi 60 expr length "$(cat ${template7})"}>=32}\
    ${color5}${scroll 30 10 ${execi 60 cat ${template7}}}${else}\
    ${color5}${execi 60 cat ${template7}}${endif}${endif} ${color6}${hr 1}${font}${color8}
    ####
    ## Uncomment for IMPERIAL Weather Stats (GRAPHIC icon set).
    ${execpi 900 ${template0} -c "${template1}" -t "${template4}"}${font}
Glad that the thieves didn't get your extra monitors! That wallpaper is Zion from the final Matrix episode so you were spot on there! Odd how us guys loved those movies while girls didn't really see the thrill .
In order to display all of the additional stuff like Grub version, the 2 other cores and their temps I had to limit the TOP Processes to 3.

I almost feel I should rip out the swap information on the conky as I have never once seen any swap used. I had it set to 8GB at one point because I was told to set it to twice my memory but have it set to just 1GB now and it never gets used still.
    Code:
    cavsfan@cavsfan-MS-7529:~$ free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 3952 1411 2541 14 86 505
    -/+ buffers/cache: 820 3132
    Swap: 1025 0 1025
My friends are up north and they have been facing similar temperatures. They will see a low of about -15 on Tuesday. Then I believe after a few days the snow, ice and cold temperatures will return.

    Cheers!

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

I was wondering why my cpu/gpu core temps weren't updating very frequently. I noticed they rarely ever change even when recordmydesktop was using up 100% of one of my cores.

    Figured this out:
The update_interval controls the quickest anything can check and so I set the cpu/gpu ${execi to 2 to fetch the temperature every 2 seconds.
I like that a lot better.

    .conkyrc.vindsl:
    Code:
    ####
    ## Update interval in seconds.
    #
    update_interval 2.0

    ...

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

    Hi Sean,

Thanks, found it. It wasn't documented in the code so I added a comment for the next time I go looking for it.

    Thanks, Jon.
