    When I first looked it I thought that's nice but, I'll never figure any of that out. Slowly but surely I got to where I needed. Although I am no conky authority by any means.
    There is still a lot I don't get about it. I am just happy VinDSL and paramvir have shared their work. They have been very generous with their work and their time.

    This is the best forum!

    Oh, one thing I might add nelight2, you have to install lm-sensors and run sudo sensors-detect from a terminal and answer yes to all the questions.
    This will provide a lot of information to conky.
    I agree that everybody that uses these apps owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to both VinDSL & Paramvir
    for their fine work & willingness to help us Conky noobs get them up & running correctly =D>

    I 1st started playing with Conky last year...by READING the manuals on the Conky homepage & looking at some of the
    screenshots along with the sample .rc files, I was able to build my own sys monitor & modify the WX apps I found on the
    net to suit myself.....then I found this thread...never looked back as they both fulfill my needs

    Obviously, I am NOT a professional programmer...I was a hardware guy for over 46 years before retiring in 2007...

    Have you noticed that @nelight has not posted since his initial request...maybe I scared him off by asking him to do
    a little research on his own...if so, then I apologize to him & everyone else as that was NOT my intent...I was merely
    trying to point out to him that the Forum is made up of VOLUNTEERS that take time out of their own lives to help
    others; but they should make a valid effort to do a little work on their own before asking someone to do it for them

    @ Param

    Finally got around to installing conkywx 1.0.0.1. Works a treat. Love that dynamic moon! Wify thinks I am back to my childhood years yet I am 4 months away from turning Six Oh

    Screenshot:

    Runs on a Mint 15 install with Cinnamon

    Question: How can I get the alert scroller to run a bit more smoothly AND have the ticker run the full width of the panel?

    Played around with some of the numbers to no avail.

    Cheers from Downunder

    Well, well, well...

    Spoke too soon. Managed to increase the width of the ticker to cover the full width of the panel.

    Changed the blue highlighted pieces from 30 to 45

    Old:

    Code:
    ##################################
    ##   CONKYWX WEATHER (Metric)   ##
    ##################################
    ${voffset 12}${font DroidSans:bold:size=8}${color4}WEATHER${font}
    ### Uncomment to use Frank's template set
    ${execpi 300 conkywx -c ${template7} -t ${template6}}${font}
    ##
    ${voffset 35}${font DroidSans:bold:size=8}${if_existing ${template3}} \
    ${offset 8}${color tomato}Alerts : ${if_match ${execi 60 expr length "$(cat ${template3})"}>=32}\
    ${color cyan}${scroll 30 10 ${execi 60 cat ${template3}}}${else}\
    ${color5}${execi 60 cat ${template3}}${endif}${endif} ${font}
    ##
    New:

    Code:
    ##################################
    ##   CONKYWX WEATHER (Metric)   ##
    ##################################
    ${voffset 12}${font DroidSans:bold:size=8}${color4}WEATHER${font}
    ### Uncomment to use Frank's template set
    ${execpi 300 conkywx -c ${template7} -t ${template6}}${font}
    ##
    ${voffset 35}${font DroidSans:bold:size=8}${if_existing ${template3}} \
    ${offset 8}${color tomato}Alerts : ${if_match ${execi 60 expr length "$(cat ${template3})"}>=32}\
    ${color cyan}${scroll 45 10 ${execi 60 cat ${template3}}}${else}\
    ${color5}${execi 60 cat ${template3}}${endif}${endif} ${font}
    ##
    Still leaves me to fix the smoothness of the scroller....

    Hey Frank - your conky looking good
    Surprise surprise I just hit Five Oh a couple of days back

    Yes it does feel fantabulous to get that freaky feeling of the childhood days isn't it ??? that excitement one has difficulty in articulating - and only the one who knows you so well can tell

    And you still have to play with the other goodies - font to image - a word of warning - it gets addictive just like conky... and not to mention the 3 graphs lol

    It does not become very smooth as the best you can do is reduce the stepping to 1 and then also reduce the update_interval to say 0.1 [ making it faster] - but it still gives a jerky scroll as it stops to print out each character. That is why I use a step of 10 and update every 3 seconds. I have seen some place a lua script for smooth scrolling - cant find it now while googling..

    cheers

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

    Happy Birthday to everybody with birthdays! I'll get the senior citizens discount myself in a couple of months.

    Just wanted to show what Paramvir has done with the images. It's a good thing he is patient because he practically had to spell it out to me.

    Screenshot from 2013-10-29 16:49:24.png

    You can find everything you need in the last few pages where I had to keep asking Paramvir questions.

    But this is what it looks like.

    BTW VinDSL if your listening. I feel like I've plagiarized your stuff because mine is basically yours with a few things added to fill up my ginormous screen.
    I hope all is well with that. I love the fact that the right side of the screen shows me what's going on with my system and when Paramvir added the CONKYWX it became fantastic.
    I have FireFox and Chromium sized so it fills the screen except the conky.
    My windows 7 screen just has 2 widgets on the right side; one for CPU activity so I can tell when it's finished booting up, which takes quite a while and a weather widget that shows 3 days worth of weather but, nothing like CONKYWX.

    I would just like to say thanks to you, Paramvir and everyone else on this thread that has helped me! =D>
