The Eee PC 901 works well. There are a few things that are bad, though:
    • You need to blacklist the old RT2860 wireless driver.
    • The battery indicator is broken (says my battery has a low capacity when it does not)
    • The Fn volume keys are a bit erratic (when you tap the up key, it goes straight to full volume)

    1215N Eee pc
    Ubuntu 10.10

    Install Jupiter
    Install bumblebee for Optimus support
Write script for two finger scroll and right click

Everything else works out of the box.
10.10 rocks on this little dual core netbook and battery life is about 6 hours of normal use with compiz enabled.

Has anyone tried 11.04 on the Asus 1018 (p or pb variant) netbook? That's the one I'm thinking of picking up to dual boot with Ubuntu.

Re: ASUS Computers Ubuntu works well on.

I've been using an ASUS Eee Box B202 since it was first released. It has a Ralink 2860 wireless card and works 100% fine with Ubuntu.

I've tried OS X, Windows 7 and all I can say is Ubuntu has a very, very impressive series of features that overshadow those OS's very easily. I particularly love Synaptic which makes it so much easier to update things.

I see OS X trying to imitate Compiz in Lions release, a poor attempt IMO. Windows 7 has nothing that Microsoft produces for similar effect although it's a mature platform so it SHOULD. I expect Ubuntu to only get better while the others get worse.

Just the other day I was trying to extract across a multiple RAR archive, in OS X not even UnRarX would do it! I had to copy the files over to a USB thumb drive and do it using PeaZip on Ubuntu. Go figure huh!

I think by now everyone knows the B202 works though :-Z

I use the same netbook, and it runs perfectly fine. The only problem is battery life

netbook 1015PE with 11.04 works fine and is much faster than 10.10 (also 10.10 has problems mounting external devices)

Only 11.04 odd problem is that google autopredict disables the mouse completely! :S that one has me completely foxed.

Wireless is flaky, I usually just hit fn+f2 twice on bootup and is fine. Not problems with battery or volume keys, they work perfectly. Am using eeepc 901. Which bios revision are you using?
