How to disable the ubuntu unity sidepanel from popping out

How do you disable the sidepanel from popping out all the time? When i change workspace it pops out. Also when i tab between open windows. Also sometimes when i just browse or type, it pops out. And it just sits there. And it's in the way. How do you make sure it ONLY pops out when i ask it to, by keyboard bindings?

I changed the 'reveal mode' in unity behavior in compiz to 'none', but this didn't resolve the problem.

    Thanks

    Ben

Yeah, that is what it did for me.
Maybe unrelated but for another reason (always popped out when I moused left in anything) I changed the reveal position to top left and disabled left.

Now it only reveals if I mouse very top left, ie: hard into the corner, or use the keyboard.

For some reason all the other random reveal behavior ceased as well.
    Don't know why. Ymmv

    cheers, Bob

Thanks for your post, removing the reveal mode only helped with the problem of the mouse getting the sidepanel out. Still when i change desktop it pops out which is super annoying.

    But thanks!
