We all know that laptops come with batteries that can be controlled using the power management to warn you or turn OFF your laptop if the battery is running low...

Why not do the same thing for a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) so that desktop users don't have to rely on programs like NUT (Network UPS Tools) and having to write scripts to check the UPS status... The Power Manager in Ubuntu can make it a lot easier to set up...

Wouldn't it be great their was a section under Power Manager that detects and controls an external UPS device just like an internal battery on a laptop... It will monitor power levels and show an icon if the power goes out, it will warn you if battery levels are low and lastly shut down your computer if the battery is drained...

This would be a good idea for desktop users who use a UPS for their computer which would act as a battery if the power goes out, and would also allow a quick and easy setup without relying on 3rd party programs and script writing...
