Will this work with fglrx now that it doesn't use XGL? i.e. was XGL the only problem?

Well crap. I made a rather dumb move and thought I would simplify having to sudo visudo and just chgrp it to my user name. That backfired and now all it ever says is "gid is 1000, should be 0".

also, while this might be a rather dumb question, while I could access /etc/sudoers i couldn't add the line to it? any help on either of these issues would be AWESOME!

Okay, can I PLEASE get some help. I've been trying to do this forever.
I can not edit my sudoers folder. i've tried
    Code:
    export EDITOR=nano
    , then
    Code:
    sudo visudo
and everything is the same! i've tried g editing it and then it won't let me back out and save! I'm completely lost for ideas.

For those having trouble with sudo visudo, try either

    Code:
    sudo nano /etc/sudoers
    or

    Code:
    sudo gedit /etc/sudoers

Also, if can't find your display number, try this in the terminal:

    Code:
     glxinfo | grep display
That should give you the correct display.

Re: How to play openGL based games with full 3D acceleration on XGL/compiz

Running Compiz, on Intrepid, fglrx drivers (Radeon 2600, 512MB) with latest everything.

How would I go about starting screensavers with this?

I installed the compiz fusion icon from Add/remove on main menu, so if I want to game, I just need to switch the window manager to metacity (this generally works). But obviously I can't do that when screensavers come on...
