    When installing one gets a screen in which the minimum requirements are mentioned. If I remember correctly it says that you need a minimumum of 3.5 GiB.

    I agree that it is only slightly less than the 4 GiB available. I recommend 10.04 though, as it is also LTS and supported for 3 years (from april 2010).

    But still: that someone might be right

    3.5GB is the minimum but the EEEPC has around 3.8GB of hard drive space. Post install of standard 10.04.2 netbook edition on my EEEPC 701 I have 1.5Gb left. You would be better off with an LTS if you don't want to keep on installing a new release.
