Macbook Pro 8,2 - dvd drive not recognized

In addition to the wireless not working, my dvd drive is not recognized at all in Ubuntu 11.04. Has anyone else experienced this or found a way around it?

I have the same problem on my MacBook Pro 8.2, the drive works fine in OS X but it is not listed when I do a lshw.

Did you ever get to the bottom of the issue?

    Thanks
    Nick

Same here, no wireless and no DVD drive, I think there is bug submitted about this, as Ubuntu 10.04 LTS works (DVD drive).

    Thanks for the info,
My ubuntu is, however, 32 bits so I don't know if it's applicable to me, and from the experience of a friend who has installed ubuntu 64 bits ndiswrapper is a bit unstable at least on his system, I prefer to wait for a native linux driver for BCM4331 chip.
