    Firefox always starts maximized

I don't know if it's a bug or a "feature", but every time I start Firefox in Unity it opens in maximized mode.

As for many people this is what they like it may be convenient for them, but for the more drag & drop people like me that like to have several open windows on one screen it is rather annoying. It means I must normalize the window every time I start the browser.

Is there a way to stop this behaviour?

Try this from the command line,
    Code:
    firefox -width 800 -height 600
or change the numbers to your liking!

This is a bit of a pita for me. Especially on a 22" monitor.

    This is the bug report.

Indeed. I don't think it was a good idea to implement such feature.

I agree, automaximizing is a bad idea.

Personally, I use Devil's Pie (http://www.foosel.org/linux/devilspie) to customize my windows in Ubuntu. It allows you to override the automaximize with your own preferences. Read the documentation for further info.

    Hope it helps!
