Re: Wifi not working on my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop.

Hey thanks for helping so much. Unfortunately that didnt work. I had the wired network unplugged and typed the code in. Started the wifi and it kept asking for the password. I'm not too good with Linux yet. I usually code Python or html. But I did take half a Linux course at the community college :-] I'm interested in learning it and was a little curious on what exactly we were doing or what you think the problem is? I spent a good amount of time trying to fix it and was just wondering if I was on the right path.

    Thanks again,

    Zing

    UPDATE*
The restarts have gotten better, I don't know if that makes sense or not for what you did but it only takes once now. Thank You!

Hi, I would not expected the command I gave you to help the booting issue, it will probably come back again. Run these commands please I am trying to marrow down the problem.
    Code:
    dmesg | grep wlan0
    Code:
    sudo ifup wlan0
    sudo iwlist scan
    Code:
    dmesg | grep iwl
    Code:
    lsmod | grep iwl
    Thank you

Hi, you are having problems with encryption.

Try changing the settings in your router to wpa2, make sure it is not in mixed mode.

If that does not work disable security for a few minutes and see if you can connect then.
    Thank you

Well, isn't life an itch. I have the same laptop and still unable to get the wireless working. As an aside, what version of BIOS is your laptop using?

    Code:
    ~$ sudo dmidecode --type 38
    # dmidecode 2.9
    SMBIOS 2.7 present.
