Need help with Ubuntu 11.04 's sound settings

I've been trying to get sound from my PC case's front panel microphone, but never been successful. Can anybody help me solving this problem?

Hey, I've been having problems with my microphone, too. I've got a somewhat lengthy discussion with another user on how to solve the problem, and thought you might benefit from some of the stuff we've tried. (Though I still have yet to solve my problem).

Thanks hunter, I did everything on your link advised. But unfortunately, I still can't get sound yet. This OS really irritates me. It could be no pain & still get pain. lol Anyway, I really appreciate you and English speaking people in ubuntuforums.org. Actually I've been also asking same question to my local forum but I get impression that they don't know ****.
You guys have more technical knowledge of this system.
I think I'm gonna stick with English forums whenever I have trouble with Ubuntu.
By the way, did you have same problem with Ubuntu 10.04?
