    I think I'll go with openshot for the basic cutting.
    For effects, I'd go with kdenlive [It has loads of effects to choose from].

    For you, I'd say openshot will work.


    But no, it doesn't matter on what I say.
    Just download different softwares and test it yourself. Then choose the editor that you like.

    What did you end up going with I have started using Openshot its super easy
    and as good as any iv seen...Tom

    Wow - linux is a different world. I hadn't thought about having a separate boot with a linux optimized for video. Certainly possible with the USB sticks and maybe with DVD.

    I'll also checkout kdenlive video editor.

    Anyone know of a comparison grid of the various editors and maybe lunux distributions. OpenShot sure is easy to get started with, but maybe other editors have more capability like ability to record and edit audio more easily?
