I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
I like the way their facade of being a legitimate professional phonecall
quickly drops once found out.
Had a call last week and replied
"I'm running Linux, so try and scam someone else monkeyboy."
and hung up.
Ten seconds later phone rings, pickup and hear
"monkeyboy monkeyboy monkeyboy....." repeatedly.
Must have hit a nerve.
