    Re: Problem with speakers and headphones Ubuntu 11.04

    I'm having a similar issue. I am running ubuntu 11.04 off of an intel machine. I get sound through speakers but not through headphones. I've already checked that all the sound fields are cranked in alsamixer. I've tried switching the output type to analog headphones, but to no avail.

    Using the alsa info script, the following information is generated.
    http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=24...f3b93331a7eb84

    If any one can help me. I would greatly appreciate it.

    Or at least motherboard info.
    Your codec is:
    Code:
    Realtek ALC662
    Your model selection in alsa-base.conf:
    Code:
    model=intel-alc889a
    I'd ask why, but I'm afraid of the answer. Needless to say you'll need to remove that.

    It won't work with intel-alc889a on my PC.

    Exactly, so why is it in there? Try changing intel-alc889a to ecs or 3stack-6ch

    The headphone problem was solved when I put 'ecs' in the file, but the audio was very choppy.

    Try resetting your pulse configuration. Using a Terminal="Applications->Accessories->Terminal"
    Code:
    rm -r ~/.pulse ~/.asound* ~/.pulse-cookie
    Logout/in.
