Samba Server, when connected folder permissions could not be determined

    Hi,

i have a stand alone PC on which i have SAMBA running as a file server to which we all connect. We can still connect and access files but when we do a right mouse click on the files or folders it shows in nautilus permission tab the following "permissions could not be determined". I tried reinstalling samba but it says that i already have the most uptodate version.

I also checked my smb.conf file with an older version, everything looks unchanged there.
What might be causing that we cannot see the folder permissions ?

We had some files when we tried to open them that it said its protected and we can only see the read only version. Not with all files, only with some. I must also add that yesterday we had 2 power cuts... Linux doesn't like that..

What can you suggest to fix the permissions viewing problem ?

    bye bye,
    Dietmar
